上海外国语大学贤达经济人文学院系国家教育部2004年批准设立的上海首批全日制本科独立学院，由上海外国语大学和上海贤达投资有限公司合作举办。2021年获批上海市学位办硕士学位授予单位提早培育项目。
学校依托上海外国语大学雄厚的师资力量以及外语教学与研究等方面的优势，建设以外国语言文学、经济与管理类学科为优势学科，以艺术设计学为特色学科，法学、教育学、理学等学科专业协调发展的学科专业体系，现有7大学科门类29个本科专业，全日制本科在校生超万人。

一、双校区联动，服务区域发展
学校现有虹口、崇明两个校区。虹口校区地处市区东北部，毗邻母体大学上海外国语大学，共享优质学术资源；崇明校区地处崇明区陈家镇，校园风貌彰显古典与现代交织、东方与西方相遇的多元融合。一期建筑采用新古典主义和托斯卡纳风格的设计理念与特有的生态环境相得益彰。二期设计以经典的现代高等学府学院派建筑风格为主体，融入中国园林规划理念，独具江南韵味。随着2026年底上海轨道交通22号线（崇明线）通车，“双校区联动、上海城市资源融合”的办学格局进一步强化。

About us
Profile of Xianda College of Economics and Humanities, Shanghai International Studies University
Xianda College of Economics and Humanities, Shanghai International Studies University (Xianda College of SISU), founded in 2004 and located in Shanghai, is one of the first full-time independent undergraduate colleges approved by the Ministry of Education. It was jointly established by Shanghai International Studies University (SISU) and Shanghai Xianda Investment Co., Ltd. In 2021, Xianda College was selected for Shanghai’s early-stage cultivation program for institutions authorized to confer master’s degrees.
Leveraging the strong faculty resources and distinctive strengths in foreign language teaching and research of SISU, Xianda has developed a disciplinary structure featuring foreign languages and literature, economics, and management, with art and design as its distinguishing discipline, while promoting the coordinated development of law, education, science, and other fields. The college currently offers 29 undergraduate programs across seven academic disciplines and enrolls over 10,000 full-time undergraduate students.
Adhering to the educational philosophy of “placing student development at the center of all endeavors” and the fundamental mission of “fostering virtue and nurturing talents,” Xianda upholds its motto: “A virtuous person upholds morality; a successful person excels in endeavors.” Centered on the goal of cultivating versatile, practice-oriented talents with strong character, a global outlook, and robust intercultural communication skills, the college actively explores innovative talent cultivation models through its “Foreign Languages +”, “Digital Intelligence +”, and “Industry +” initiatives. It also advances the development of New Liberal Arts, strengthens its internationally focused characteristics, and continuously improves the quality of education and teaching to enhance its core competitiveness.
I. Two Campuses in Synergy, Serving Regional Development
Xianda currently operates two campuses in Hongkou and Chongming Districts. The Hongkou Campus is located in the northeastern part of urban Shanghai, adjacent to its parent university, SISU, providing access to high-quality academic resources. The Chongming Campus, situated in Chenjiazhen Town, features a landscape that blends classical and modern elements as well as Eastern and Western cultures. The Phase I buildings adopt Neo-Classical and Tuscan design concepts, harmonizing beautifully with the area’s unique ecological environment. The Phase II construction integrates a classic modern collegiate architectural style with concepts from traditional Chinese garden planning, creating a distinctive Jiangnan (south of the Yangtze River) charm. With Shanghai Metro Line 22 (the Chongming Line) scheduled to open by the end of 2026, the educational model of “two-campus synergy and integration into Shanghai’s urban resources” will be further strengthened.
Based in the Shanghai metropolitan area, Xianda actively aligns itself with Shanghai’s “Five Centers” initiative and the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta. It continues to build strengths in such fields as international communication, foreign-related rule of law, and eco-cultural tourism, empowering regional economic and social development through high-quality talent cultivation.
II. Empowering Student Success with First-Class Facilities
Equipped with modern teaching buildings, smart classrooms, experimental and practical training centers, and high-standard student residences, Xianda provides students with a first-class environment for both study and living.
The college implements the “Elite Talent Development Program,” supported by a team of distinguished professors, to offer outstanding students with strong academic performance and growth potential superior development opportunities and broader pathways for advancement. Differentiated classes for all-English and bilingual instruction are offered based on students’ English proficiency and needs. Xianda has also established a Language Learning Center to systematically strengthen students’ practical foreign language abilities. At the same time, respecting students’ academic interests, Xianda participates in inter-university cooperative education in northeastern Shanghai together with universities such as Fudan University and Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, creating opportunities for cross-institutional minors and elective courses.
Xianda has established a Student Service and Management Center, which includes a Student Development Division and a Student Affairs Division. Guided by the principles of “Health First” and “Holistic Education,” the college promotes students’ comprehensive development—moral, intellectual, physical, aesthetic, and labor education—through six community-based modules, including the Global Citizenship Community, the Virtuous Culture Community, and the You+ Public Service Community. The college’s baseball and softball teams have won championships and runner-up positions in the National College Baseball and Softball Championships for many consecutive years.
Xianda adopts a dual-track student development model combining “class mentors/academic advisors plus counselors.” Through a “one portfolio for each individual student” mechanism, multidimensional, diverse, and dynamic growth records are built for students. Supported by a home-school collaboration system, the college pays continuous attention to students’ physical and mental well-being, academic planning, and career development, ensuring comprehensive support for their success.
III. High-Level Faculty Guidance and Comprehensive Reform for Growth
Xianda adheres to a talent-driven strategy for institutional strengthening. Teachers with educational backgrounds from prestigious overseas universities or experience in foreign-related work account for 56% of the faculty. Native-speaking or international teachers are assigned to all foreign language programs and majors such as business, education, arts, and big data. The proportion of faculty with senior professional titles, doctoral degrees, and “dual-qualified” credentials (integrating academic expertise and industry experience) continues to rise. A number of teachers with industry backgrounds integrate practical experience into classroom teaching, effectively enhancing students’ practical abilities and on-the-job competitiveness.
Guided by the core principle of “Prioritizing Service, Strengthening Contribution,” Xianda continues to deepen comprehensive education reform. Oriented toward industry trends and employer needs, the college advances talent cultivation reforms through models such as “Foreign Language + Major + Digital Intelligence Technology,” “Major + Foreign Language + Digital Intelligence Technology,” and “Major + Industry Expertise.”
IV. Commitment to Openness and Engagement with World-Renowned Universities
Xianda is committed to an internationalized development path, actively introducing advanced educational concepts and management models from outstanding higher education institutions at home and abroad. The college has established stable and friendly cooperation with more than 100 well-known universities in over 20 countries and regions, including the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, Australia, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, Ireland, Hungary, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, Egypt, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, and China’s Hong Kong SAR, Macao SAR, and Taiwan Province. Through programs such as credit transfer, inter-university exchange, dual bachelor’s degrees, integrated undergraduate and postgraduate programs, short-term study abroad, and overseas practice and internship programs, Xianda provides students with diverse and multi-level opportunities for overseas study and exchange. These experiences enable students to engage with diverse cultures, broaden their international horizons, and strengthen their intercultural communication skills. In recent years, nearly 15% of graduates each year have pursued master’s degrees at world-leading universities such as Columbia University, Johns Hopkins University, the University of Southern California, University College London, the University of Edinburgh, the University of Manchester, the University of Melbourne, the University of Sydney, the University of New South Wales, the Autonomous University of Barcelona, the University of Barcelona, the University of Tokyo, Nagoya University, Waseda University, the University of Hong Kong, and the Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
The college has also established the Institute of Area Studies, the first of its kind among private higher education institutions in Shanghai, creating a distinctive research framework that integrates languages, areas, and specific research fields to actively serve China’s strategy of high-quality opening-up and Shanghai’s role as an international metropolis.
V. Deep Integration of Industry and Education to Promote High-Quality Graduate Employment
Adhering to an “employer demand-oriented” approach, Xianda promotes precise alignment between talent cultivation and industry needs. The college has established solid partnerships with top-tier domestic and international enterprises such as iFLYTEK, SAIC Motor, Fosun Tourism Group, Orient International, Deloitte, Ctrip, and MSC Cruises. Together with these partners, it has co-built the “Modern Industrial School of Artificial Intelligence” and launched customized training programs and targeted talent classes, creating direct pathways to employment for students. Widely recognized by society, graduates are employed by Fortune Global 500 foreign enterprises, state-owned enterprises, foreign embassies and consulates in China, and many leading companies across industries. Over the past three years, the average employment rate has remained at around 95%.
